Walter MAZZARRI named as Watford head coach
Watford have announced former Inter Milan boss Walter Mazzarri will become head coach from 1 July after the departure of Quique Sanchez Flores.

The 54-year-old Italian, who has also managed Sampdoria and Napoli, has signed a three-year contract at Vicarage Road.

Spaniard Flores left after less than a year with the Premier League side.

Watford finished 13th in a season where they also lost in the FA Cup semi-finals to Crystal Palace.

Mazzarri is the Hornets' eighth manager in the last four years.

Van Gaal also has transfer control I think. Papers saying it's his last game today regardless of the result.

The owners have control of a Spanish & Italian club as well as Watford don't they?
I suspect the whole thing is a drug based money laundering operation and has nothing whatsoever to do with football.
Watford are just a front.
This new manager looks straight out of the Sopranos.

Actually I wouldn't. As I've said many many times, I think fans get obsessed with the cult of personality around managers, but actually the vast majority of managers these days are basically first-team coaches. The actual decisions are taken elsewhere at the club.

One of the few who did have total control was Martinez, who everybody seems to have been really nice about leading up to his dismissal :).

Not all of their managers were sacked. Jokanovic was out of contract, Zola left, Garcia had heart trouble. But I think clubs are better run when the managing is done by the club and the coaches are left to coach. Then when the coach leaves all you're changing is the match prep and selection, not the philosophy of the club.

It's a change we've partially made, though you would say we're now too dependent on Sullivan as de facto DoF rather than the coach.

And an FA Cup semi final. The last bloke should have been given the freedom of Watford.

If our club was run like that, Alex, you'd call it a car crash.

They got promoted & stayed up.
It's like asking who has been more successful in the last decade .... Chelsea or one manager Arsenal?

Keep sacking managers works for them, Alex?

Interesting club, they seem to just dance to a different beat than other clubs. They bring in players nobody else goes for as well. Odd, but it's worked so far for them.
